Sat on my porch
Sad eyes staring at me
Like a pool of despair
Thumped his tail
Take me
Please
Don’t want no dog
Never had one
Don’t know how to
Feed him
Bathe him
Take care of him
Don’t want no dog
Tongue hanging out
Like clothes hanging on Granny’s clothesline
Slobbers up to me
Goes under my hand
Wants to be petted
Don’t want no slobbering dog
Go away
Leave me alone
Don’t got no money to feed
No hungry dog
Don’t want no sad abandoned dog
Tries to climb on my lap
Like a needy baby
Looks like he might cry
Don’t want no crying, sad, lonely dog
Problem is
Darn dog wants me
Likes me
Needs me
Maybe will love me
Don’t want no lovin’ dog
But he sure wants me
Maybe?
