Night has fallen, the full moon has risen, and the chickens have begun to get nervous…
“EEK! Halloween!”
Before venturing out on October 31st, step into the pages of another gem by Sandra Boynton. “EEK! Halloween!” has the color, costumes, and crazy antics to get your toddler into the spirit of Halloween. Boynton’s wide-eyed chickens, unaware of the holiday, meet a series of dressed-up characters who make them increasingly edgy and afraid. At their most nervous, a well-timed “Boo!” scatters the chickens like feathery bowling pins. They screech their consternation, only for one of their own (perhaps?) to reassure them that it’s just Halloween.
Sandra Boynton
If you have never read a Sandra Boynton board book, please find one and read it to your toddler or infant. Boynton’s animal characters look adorable, elephants included. Her stories pack fun, clever wordplay and simple life lessons into readable pages rich with color. We have read nine or ten different Boynton books to our four-year-old son by now, and we have yet to find a dud. In addition, Boynton has videos and audio albums available on her website featuring some names you may recognize. Her work will not disappoint.
(And for those wondering what in the blue blazes this all has to do with pachyderms, please pick up “EEK! Halloween!” and keep your eyes out for the enormous mouse…)
