Half-Year Update

Half-Year Update

In case you missed it, the calendar changed over to July this past Sunday. So, let’s check in on our New Year’s Resolutions. And maybe, in offering a half-year update to the world, each of us can renew our commitment to our goals. Oh, and no judgment if you need to completely rewrite your goals. Elephants never reject necessary change.

My Half-Year Update

I have resolved in 2018 to:

  • Love and take care of my family 🛠️
Well, they have yet to kick me out of the house. And we expect a new baby in early August!
  • Start a Facebook page ✔️
While I had intended to create a home for Elephants Never with this goal, a personal page will suffice for now.
  • Live and love for today 🛠️
I still say “no” too much, and allow fear or laziness to stop me. Yet, I feel more aware of my true priorities. That counts for something, right?
  • Finish three stories ✔️
A huge thank you to Reflex Fiction, Flash Frontier’s Micro-Madness, and FlashFlood for allowing me to complete this goal!
  • Show more commitment to my friends 🛠️
The new Facebook page has helped. But I still think to reach out far less than I should. And my friends deserve better.
  • Lose 10 pounds
Shamefully, I admit that I have yet to even start working toward this goal. The clock ticks downward.
Half-Year Updates from the Herd
  • Katie H.: 🛠️

  • Ali Z.: ✔️
“I think mine was to be more unapologetic about who I am and I feel like I’ve stuck to that!”
  • Laura P.: 🛠️
“Mine has been failing lol I wanted to both study and register for the GRE exam and I’ve done neither.”
  • Theresa M.-P.: 🛠️
“Mine was to stop saying ‘sorry’ as much – constantly apologizing. I would say it’s in-progress.”

There we go. Thanks to those brave enough to share their progress! And don’t let the calendar discourage you, your goals remain in reach.
