Happy New Year from Elephants Never! I hope you’re not tired of the year after just a week. (Although the cold and much-hyped “bomb cyclone” certainly made this a tough week for many of us.) While you and your herd get busy living 2018, permit me to share my New Year’s resolutions with you.
Setting Goals
If you haven’t recently, consider spending a few minutes reflecting on your personal goals. Or try a life audit. A lot of us neglect to pause during the year to reassess where we are in life. We wait for conflict or a life event to goad us into self-examination. Well, the calendar just changed over into a new number. Count that as a life event.
One more goal-setting tip: Dream big and give yourself a break at the same time. Set short-term goals you can reach, while still aiming to fly long-term.
My New Year’s Resolutions
I resolve in 2018 to:
- Love and take care of my family.
Elephants never forget those most important to them.
- Start a Facebook page.
You might have heard that elephants never comment. They do, however, like and post. - Live and love for today.
Elephants never ignore good advice from Dave Matthews Band.
- Finish three stories.
Elephants never quit on their dreams, even while keeping their feet on the ground.
- Show more commitment to my friends.
Elephants never forsake, but they don’t always fully commit either. And we all need our friends to get by.
- Lose 10 pounds.
Join me. You might know, elephants never forgo a meal. Humans, on the other hand, don’t always need nachos and beer.
There you have it. Thanks for reading, and feel free to share your own resolutions below or through the contact page. Even if we’ve never met, I will root for you to succeed this year. Happy 2018!
